POPI's Emergency Humanitarian Initiative for Farmers Affected by Flash Floods.


The recent flash floods in the haor areas of Kishoreganj have caused severe hardship for thousands of vulnerable farming families. Peoples Oriented Program Implementation (POPI), with support from START Fund Bangladesh, has stepped forward to assist farming families in the haor region of Kishoreganj who were severely affected by the recent flash floods. This vital international fund is jointly financed by UK Aid, Sida (Sweden), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Jersey Overseas Aid (JOA), and the Hilton Foundation.
Under the initiative titled “Emergency Humanitarian Assistance Project for People Affected by Flash Floods (ALERT-B072),” direct assistance is being provided to a total of 1,225 affected farming families ( 5,255 family members) in Itna and Ostagram upazilas of Kishoreganj district
As part of the multipurpose cash assistance package, each affected family is receiving BDT 6,000. In addition, 118 household is being provided with 100 kg (two bags) of cattle feed to support affected livestock, and 100 households received one high-quality 12 × 15-foot tarpaulin for emergency shelter and protection.
